A native of Salt Lake City, David received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Utah and began his very diverse real estate career by working as a sales agent. The technical side of the real estate business quickly captured his interest and he decided to attend law school, focusing on real estate and contract law. After graduating from law school, David worked as a lobbyist in Washington, D.C. before returning to real estate and forming and managing a title insurance and escrow agency. Those years provided him with in-depth experience through hundreds of complicated real estate closings.
David was next appointed Director of the Utah Division of Real Estate. He began by restructuring state-wide real estate education programs for real estate agents and brokers. He also implemented the adoption and revision of numerous new standardized real estate forms for use throughout the State of Utah. In 1987, David took his experience in real estate sales, title insurance and escrow, and real estate brokerage regulation, and applied it to private law practice with an emphasis in real estate and real estate brokerage law. He served as general counsel to the Utah Association of Realtors® and to the Park City Board of Realtors®. Based upon the real estate education programs he initiated at the Utah Division of Real Estate, David is one of the most highly recognized real estate instructors in the State of Utah.
David discontinued his law practice in 2005 to become an owner and Principal Broker of a very successful real estate brokerage in Park City. In 2011, he was recruited to become a key member of the leadership team at Summit Sotheby's International Realty. He was pleased to accept the appointment as their Managing Broker in September, 2011. With David's depth of experience in real estate transactions, coupled with an exceptional group of professional sales associates, Summit Sotheby's International Realty is committed to providing each of its clients with the highest level of real estate brokerage services available.
Very involved in the Park City community, David is a past member of the Park City Rotary Club and he has served on the Summit County Board of Adjustment. He has been the recipient of several professional awards including: the "Directors Award" and "Realtor® of the Year" award from the Park City Board of Realtors®; and the "President's Award" from both the Utah Association of Realtors® and the Salt Lake Board of Realtors®; and the "Educator of the Year" award" from the Utah Association of Realtors®. David and his wife Annette, enjoy traveling with friends and family.
