Park City Living

Long before Park City became a world class mountain resort and venue for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, it was famous as a silver mining town, and boasts a lively and colorful past. Founded by prospectors in the late 1860's, Park City continued to mine silver until the early 1970's. The mining company, Park City Consolidated Mines, started the ski business in 1963, when they built the first lifts on what was then called Treasure Mountain. The Park City area now has three world class resorts: Park City Mountain Resort, Deer Valley Resort, and the Canyons Resort.

New commercial developments at Kimball Junction offer a legitimate “town center” feeling for Snyderville Basin residents, with grocery stores, a post office, movie theater, shops, restaurants, nightclubs, a public recreation center and community gathering spaces.

The Prospector area in Park City Utah is a popular in town neighborhood for families. It is conveniently located to the elementry school, middle school and high school.  You can find some great values on homes, townhomes and condos for an in town Park City location.  The popular Rail Trail cuts through the Prospector neighborhood that is a fun to spend time with your family either hiking or biking on because it is an easy flat trail.  Located in the Prospector neighborhood is the Silver Mountain Sports Club which is a popular fitness center that offers some great classes, equipment, and a fun outdoor pool that the kids will love.

The Canyons is one of three alpine ski resorts in Park City. The Canyons is just four miles from downtown Park City, and only half an hour from Salt Lake City. With 19 chairlifts and over 4,000 acres of skiable terrain, The Canyons is the largest ski resort in Utah. In 2008, a 20 million gallon snow-making pond and 2 new high speed quads were installed to help upgrade the park. While at the Canyons you can experience the six superior restaurants, horse-drawn sleigh rides, a snow groomer ride along, guided snowshoe tour, dog sledding, snowmobile tours, cross country skiing, and fly fishing.

Park Meadows is a long time favorite residential area for full-time residents and is a master planned subdivision surrounding the Park Meadows Golf Course and Country Club. The Park Meadows Golf Course and Country Club is a Jack Nicklaus designed course in the Scottish links tradition. It has 105 sand bunkers and water on 12 holes.
